This week after taking a trip to a local Fire Department in search of a bike helmet (our local Fire Department has helmets) Camden informed me of her future career choice. The conversation went like this.
Camden: “I like Firemen. They will save me if I need help.”
Me: “That’s right.”
Camden: Big dramatic sigh. “I wish my daddy was a firefighter.”
Me: “That would be fun wouldn’t it? But there are all sorts of jobs and everyone has different jobs so that we can all help each other. Daddy is an electrician. He helps people have light.”
Camden: Quiet for a minute, pondering. With enthusiasm, “When I grow up I am going to be a swinger girl!”
Me: “Oh?” Trying to compose myself and not laugh because she is being very serious. “What is a swinger girl?”
Camden: Laughing. “They swwwwiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnggggggg!”
Me: “Where do they swing?”
Camden: Very matter of fact, “In the backyard.”
I love the way children view the world and how their ideas of jobs and careers have absolutely nothing to do with finances and is more about their passions. I can not wait to hear all of the other jobs she would like to have over the course of her lifetime. I would label Camden more of a fashionista. The quirky outfits she chooses are becoming more endearing to me. Here are a few of my favorites from this last week or so. Notice the mismatched socks. They were coordinated on purpose to go with her pink shirt and her red sweater. The other outfit was a hodge podge of dress-up and real clothes so that she’d be warm enough to go outside. She actually went with me to the post-office and library like that except for it was even cuter with her sunglasses and white church shoes (not pictured). Mike would die. It is funny how mothers can tolerate things that dads could just never come to grips with. By the way, that is Camden’s paper towel tower that she built and was very proud of.

And here are my 16 week pregnancy photo’s taken last Friday (March 7th). I have grown even more since then because the jeans that fit just fine this weekend wouldn’t button yesterday. Why does everyone find that hilarious? Baby is starting to move a lot and all of the yucky symptoms of pregnancy are gone. Hooray!
