The Reid’s Went Over the Mountain

029

Normally, the kids and I go to Church on Sunday but because Camden was coughing and Garrett had a runny nose we had to stay home from Church. Mike decided we should go for a family adventure up into the mountains. We literally drove to the top of a mountain and it was wonderful. We didn’t go quite as high as we could have because of how long we’d been driving and the kids were getting restless but we got really, really high. I’d never been so high above the ground, except for when flying. I wasn’t able to get shots when we were at our highest elevation but looking down was very intimidating. Mike and I marveled that just one little slip of the car and we’d go tumbling down the mountain.

We followed various logging roads along the mountain and want to go back and do it again next summer. It is kind of weird to drive that far up into a mountain, into the middle of “nowhere” so to speak and to be driving on a maintained road. I kept chiding Mike that it would be like some horror movie and around the next bend would be some secret society or Government facility. But truly, I don’t think I’d be willing to drive up there at night. All of the woodsy horror movies I’d ever seen kept flashing before my eyes.

Here are some of pictures from our drive:

    What mountain was it?

I have no idea. We drove out the mount baker highway in the Deming area and he took some obscure roads where he and a friend often go to shoot guns at a gravel pit. We just continued up the logging roads.
